Field Operations: North Bureau

The North Bureau includes:

  • Troop A – Consisting of 4 counties encompassing the Kansas City Metro area
  • Troop B – Consisting of 12 counties in northeast Kansas
  • Troop C – Consisting of 18 counties in north central Kansas
  • Troop D – Consisting of 18 counties in northwest Kansas

The region is home to several community, private and public universities, including Kansas State University, Kansas University and Washburn University. Raised in Abilene, President Dwight D. Eisenhower directed the first stretch of interstate highway to be built just west of Topeka in 1956.  This became I-70, a major Interstate that runs from Maryland to Utah which is often used by drug traffickers to deliver illegal narcotics to their final destination.
