The Kansas Highway Patrol was contacted by the Geary County Police Department in the early morning hours on Thursday, March 18th, 2021, after a body was found on eastbound I-70 near Fort Riley, Kansas, slightly east of milepost 302. KHP Troopers responded to the scene and became the investigating agency. 

The statewide law enforcement agencies of several neighboring states are joining together to urge motorists to slow down after a year of excessive speeding across the region. 

The Kansas Highway Patrol will join other Kansas law enforcement agencies in partnership with the Seat Belts are For Everyone (SAFE) program for a two-week seat belt enforcement beginning Monday, Feb. 22 to Friday, March 5. Troopers will focus on drivers and passengers in and around elementary and middle schools.
