To all my Sweet Dad's Facebook friends and family:
I don't know how much information about himself my Dad shared with you all, but he has been very busy the last month trying to rehab from hip replacement surgery. It has not been an easy ride.
Dad contracted bronchitis that turned very quickly into acute pnuemonia. He has been back in the hospital this last week because the pnuemonia became to much for the Rehab center to treat. Unfortunately, along with pnuemonia, came a list of complications as long as your arm.
It was all too much. We transferred to a wonderful Hospice House in Olathe yesterday afternoon. It was peaceful, and calm and for the first time in a month my Dad looked content. I came in the room after he settled in and said " Hi Dad" and even though he really couldn't speak he gave me the most beautiful smile I've ever seen. We watched the KU game last night and at 2:30 this morning my Dad decided it was time for the cowboy to ride away.
I am extremely sad but oh so very, very happy for my parents. My Dad has missed my mom for quite sometime. I'm sure Heaven is a little more rowdy today and I know my Dad is running all over Heaven and back.
At this time there is no memorial service because Dad didn't want that. I will take his ashes back to his hometown later this summer to the south mound he used to play on as a kid. It was his desire that I do this so he could " go play" just like he used to.
He was an amazing man and I told him just that. Along with " I love you" every chance I got. I know no matter how you knew him, he in his own way, loved you. I hope you all remember him and witty humor fondly. Please share this post so all of his friends will be notified. Thank you.
Warm Regards to all of you,
Dawn York, his daughter
More information regarding funeral services will be forwarded once we have been notified.
