Troop B consists of 12 counties in northeast Kansas, and its headquarters is in Topeka. Like Kansas City's Troop A and Wichita's Troop F, Troop B has Motorist Assistance Technicians to help stranded drivers, allowing troopers to focus more on traffic enforcement and criminal interdiction.

Members of Troop B often work with the Capitol Police (Troop K) and Protective Services (Troop L) on special events in the state's capitol, including inaugurations, visits from dignitaries, and rallies at the Statehouse.
