East Region

Commander:
Major Mark Goodloe

Troop A
Troop B
Troop H
Troop I - MCSAP

Located in the densely populated area of eastern Kansas, the East Region includes the Kansas City metropolitan area, Topeka, Lawrence, Emporia, Pittsburg, and Chanute. Fort Leavenworth, the U.S. Penitentiary at Leavenworth, and the Lansing Correctional Facility are located in this region. It also is home to numerous community, public, and private colleges, including the University of Kansas, Pittsburg State University, Washburn University, Emporia State University, Baker University, and the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.

This region is comprised of three field troop commands and the Patrol’s General Headquarters in Topeka. Troops A and B have Motorist Assistance Units that operate in the metropolitan areas to help stranded motorists and keep traffic moving safely.

Port facilities with fixed scales are located in Caney, Olathe, and Wabaunsee County, and Motor Carrier Inspectors operate throughout the region. The East Region commander also oversees Troop I, which is the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP). Troop I personnel are assigned throughout the state with the common goal of commercial vehicle safety.
