The Kansas Highway Patrol provides airborne police services to local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies and emergency service agencies. Troop T provides support on missions such as traffic enforcement, search and rescue, manhunts, disaster assessment and relief, photo surveillance and evidence gathering, counter-drug activities, and transporting vital equipment, personnel, and assets.

The Patrol has aircraft based in Topeka, Salina, and Hays. The agency maintains four OH-58 helicopters, a Bell 407 helicopter, two fixed-wing 206 Turbo Cessna airplanes, a fixed-wing 182 RG Cessna, and a fixed-wing 182 Cessna. Three helicopters and one Cessna are equipped with Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR), which allows pilots to see at night by sensing body heat, making it a valuable tool in searching for persons.

Another function of Troop T is Executive Aircraft Operations. The Patrol owns and operates a Raytheon King Air 350 two-engine, turbo-prop aircraft capable of carrying nine passengers. Based in Topeka, the aircraft supports the Protective Services Detail to the Governor and other public officials.
