Troop D consists of 18 counties in northwest Kansas. Interstate Highway 70, traditionally considered a narcotics pipeline directly linking the coasts, runs through Troops A, B, C, and D. Because of I-70, Troop D members are often busy with criminal interdiction cases, making drug-related arrests and seizing illegal drugs. In addition, Troop D's pilots and aircraft often assist with surveillance, searches, traffic enforcement, and transportation.
