Harkrader Promoted to Lieutenant
Colonel William Seck, Superintendent of the Kansas Highway Patrol, has announced that Trooper Gregory D. Harkrader was promoted to lieutenant on February 13, 2005. Harkrader recently transferred to Manhattan and serves as a zone supervisor in Troop C.
Harkrader joined the Patrol as a trooper in March of 1999 and was assigned to Wichita. He was promoted to trooper II in March of 2003. During his six years with the Patrol, he has been a field training officer and Troop F representative to the Kansas State Troopers Association. Harkrader is currently a crisis negotiator for the Special Response Team and is an instructor at the Patrol’s Training Academy.
Prior to joining the Patrol, Harkrader was a deputy sheriff for the Rice County Sheriff’s Office in Lyons, Kansas. He has been the area coordinator for the Kansas Law Enforcement Torch Run and the Patrol’s representative for Big Brothers/Big Sisters Kevin Easter’s Cops for Kids.
Harkrader graduated from Lyons High School in Lyons, Kansas. He received his bachelors of science degree in criminology from Kansas State University in 1996 and his bachelors of science degree in social science from Kansas State University in 1998.
