Patrol to Issue Vehicles to New Troopers

News Conferences, Photo Opportunities to Follow

The Kansas Highway Patrol’s eleven newest troopers will take delivery of their new patrol vehicles en masse tomorrow, September 1, at the Patrol’s fleet garage at 930 N.E. Strait Avenue in Topeka.

Colonel William Seck, Superintendent of the Patrol, will speak briefly at a news conference scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on the south side of the building. Colonel Seck will comment on the importance of quality equipment for law enforcement officers and the importance of officers helping to ensure travelers’ safety over the upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend. Colonel Seck will also take the opportunity to encourage the public to buckle up and drive sober.

There will be great photo opportunities as the new troopers receive their vehicles with their field-training officers. In inclement weather, the news conference will take place inside the southwest door of the garage.

The troopers graduated from the Patrol’s Training Academy in Salina on June 2. After they complete their field training with a veteran trooper, they will patrol Kansas’ roadways alone in their newly issued vehicles.
