McCune Promoted to Lieutenant
Colonel William Seck, Superintendent of the Kansas Highway Patrol, has announced that Master Trooper Marc J. McCune was promoted to lieutenant and assigned as a zone supervisor in the Atchison area. McCune received his promotion on Oct. 23, 2005.
McCune joined the Patrol on July 18, 1984 as a trooper performing road patrol duties in the Ulysses area. In 1988, he transferred as a trooper to the Topeka area, and in 1993 he transferred to the Olathe area. McCune was promoted to master trooper in 1994 and returned to Topeka where he represented the Patrol on an FBI Joint Task Force. In 1996, McCune transferred to Emporia to serve with the Kansas Turnpike until his recent promotion. As a member of the Patrol, McCune has served as a range master at the Turnpike, recruit class counselor and field training officer. He has also been a troop representative, troop director, secretary and vice president for the Kansas State Troopers Association.
McCune is a graduate of El Dorado High School in El Dorado, Kan., and he studied criminal justice at Cowley County Community College. Prior to joining the Patrol, McCune was a patrolman with the Winfield Police Department.
