Newton Promoted to Lieutenant

Colonel William Seck, Superintendent of the Kansas Highway Patrol, has announced that Master Trooper Rondal "Bryon" Newton was promoted to lieutenant and assigned as a zone supervisor in the Montgomery County area. Newton was promoted on Oct. 23, 2005.

Newton joined the Patrol on June 18, 1987, as a trooper performing road patrol duties in the Montgomery County area. He was promoted to master trooper on June 28, 1998 and continued patrolling Montgomery County. As a member of the Patrol, Newton has been a field training officer for recruit troopers in both Chautauqua and Montgomery counties.

Newton is a graduate of Sedan High School in Sedan, Kan. He has an associate's degree in criminal justice from Cowley County Community College and an associate's degree as a mobile intensive care technician from Coffeyville Community College. Newton also has a bachelor's degree in human services of criminal justice from Thomas A. Edison State College. Prior to joining the Patrol, Newton was an ambulance service coordinator in Sedan.
