Nicholas Promoted to Technical Trooper

Colonel William Seck, Superintendent of the Kansas Highway Patrol, has announced that Trooper Christopher S. Nicholas was promoted to technical trooper on Jan. 15, 2006. As a technical trooper, Nicholas has been assigned to the Patrol’s Critical Highway Accident Reconstruction Team (CHART).

Nicholas joined the Patrol on Jan. 7, 2001 and was assigned road patrol duties in Salina. He transferred in June 2005 to patrol the Topeka area. He will continue his patrol duties in the Topeka area, in addition to his recent promotion as a technical trooper with CHART. As a mapper, Nicholas has assisted with CHART investigations since 2003. In addition, he was a Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR) operator and spotter for the Patrol’s aircraft in Salina from 2003 to 2005. Nicholas also served as a marijuana eradication spotter in 2004.

Nicholas is a graduate of Ellsworth High School in Ellsworth, Kan. He has a certificate in auto body repair from Dodge City Community College. Prior to joining the Patrol, Nicholas was a bodyman and painter with Cliff’s Body Shop in Ellsworth. He is a member of the Salina Masonic Blue Lodge and the Isis Shrine Temple of Salina.
