Thweatt Promoted to Lieutenant

Colonel William Seck, Superintendent of the Kansas Highway Patrol, has announced that Master Trooper William Michael Thweatt was promoted to lieutenant and assigned as a zone supervisor in Anderson County. He was promoted on Feb. 26, 2006.

Thweatt joined the Patrol on October 15, 1990 as a trooper performing road patrol duties in the Fredonia area. He was promoted to trooper II and transferred to Anderson County in 1993, and in 2001 he was promoted to master trooper. He has remained in Anderson County where he continues to serve following his recent promotion. As a member of the Patrol, Thweatt has served as a range master for Troop H, in southeast Kansas, since 1996. Since 1998, he has served as a firearms instructor at the Kansas Highway Patrol Training Academy in Salina, and has been a Drug Recognition Expert since 1997. Thweatt was a field training officer to trooper trainees in 1997 and 2001.

Thweatt is a graduate of LeRoy High School in LeRoy, Kan. He graduated from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center in 1988. Prior to joining the Patrol, he was a deputy sheriff with the Coffey County Sheriff’s Office.
