Master Trooper Carver Retires from the KHP
Colonel William Seck, Superintendent of the Kansas Highway Patrol, has announced that Master Trooper Michael L. Carver has retired from the Patrol after 31 years of service. He retired on March 10, 2006.
Carver joined the Patrol on Sept. 17, 1974 as a trooper performing road patrol duties in the Junction City area. He transferred to the Kansas Turnpike in 1981 and was assigned to patrol out of Topeka. Carver was promoted to his current rank of master trooper in 1995. He worked as a road patrol trooper in several counties along the Kansas Turnpike until his retirement.
Carver is a graduate of Topeka West High School. He has an associate’s degree in criminal justice from Barton County Community College. Prior to joining the Patrol, Carver served as a corporal in U.S. Marine Corps from February 1968 to March 1970, including a tour of duty in Vietnam as a field radio operator with the First Reconnaissance Battalion. He also worked at Frito Lay, Inc. in Topeka. Carver has served as a coach for youth soccer, softball and basketball, and was an official for league and high school soccer. He was a Boy Scout leader and served on the Board of Directors and other committees for Sheltered Living, Inc.
