Chautauqua County Receives New Trooper

Colonel William Seck, Superintendent of the Kansas Highway Patrol, has assigned Trooper Jason Black to Chautauqua County. Trooper Black received the assignment following his recent completion of an extensive 22-week basic law enforcement course at the Patrol's Training Academy in Salina.

Trooper Black graduated from Fredonia High School in Fredonia, Kan., and has an associate's degree in criminal justice from Garden City Community College. Prior to joining the Patrol, Black was a deputy sheriff and K-9 handler with the Labette County Sheriff's Department. He also worked for the Parsons Police Department for six years.

Trooper Black has begun his field duties under the supervision of Master Trooper John Keene. Upon completion of field training, Trooper Black will assume patrol duties in Chautauqua County.
