Russell County Receives New Trooper

Colonel William Seck, Superintendent of the Kansas Highway Patrol, has assigned Trooper Shawn Summers to Russell County. Trooper Summers received the assignment following his recent completion of an extensive 22-week basic law enforcement course at the Patrol’s Training Academy in Salina.

Trooper Summers graduated from Hill City High School in Hill City, Kan. Prior to joining the Patrol, he was an emergency medical technician/firefighter with Graham County Emergency Medical Services. Trooper Summers also worked as a superintendent at Commercial Builders in Hays, Kan.

Trooper Summers has begun his field duties under the supervision of Master Trooper Merl Ney. Upon completion of field training, Trooper Summers will assume patrol duties in Russell County.
