Prideaux Promoted to Major

Colonel William Seck, Superintendent of the Kansas Highway Patrol, has announced that Captain Anthony E. Prideaux was promoted to Major on September 24, 2006. Major Prideaux has served the citizens of Kansas for 28 years.
Prideaux joined the Kansas Highway Patrol as a trooper in 1978 and was assigned to road duties in Salina. Prideaux became a Pilot I in 1983 and was promoted to Pilot II in 1987. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1991 and became the assistant troop commander of the aircraft and Capitol Police in Topeka. In 1994, Prideaux became the assistant troop commander of the Governor’s Security Detail, and he became commander of the Governor’s Security a year later. Prideaux was promoted to Captain in 1998 and was commander of the Patrol’s vehicle fleet and aircraft. As Major, Prideaux will oversee the Patrol’s Special Services Division, which includes the Kansas Turnpike, Capitol Police, Emergency Operations, Homeland Security, Aircraft and Executive Transportation, and Fleet Management.
Prior to becoming a trooper, Prideaux spent three years as a Radio Telephone Operator I, dispatching for the Patrol in north central Kansas. He earned an associate’s degree in criminal justice from Barton County Community College. He also has 40 hours of curriculum in flight instruction, law enforcement, art of persuasion, and communication studies from Washburn University, Fort Hays State University, and Colby Community College.
