Sedgwick County Receives New Trooper

Colonel William Seck, Superintendent of the Kansas Highway Patrol, has assigned Trooper Michael W. Butler to Sedgwick County. Trooper Butler received the assignment following his recent completion of an extensive 22-week basic law enforcement course at the Patrol’s Training Academy in Salina.
Trooper Butler graduated from Parkersburg High School in Parkersburg, West Virginia. He has an associate’s degree in business from Butler County Community College and a bachelor’s of sciences in business from Friends University. From 1986 to 1991, Butler served in the U.S. Air Force, most recently serving with Security Police. Prior to joining the Patrol, Butler was a member of the Wichita Police Department for 14 years.
Trooper Butler has begun his field duties under the supervision of Trooper Kale Collins. Upon completion of field training, Trooper Butler will assume patrol duties in Sedgwick County.
