Shawnee County Receives New Trooper

Colonel William Seck, Superintendent of the Kansas Highway Patrol, has assigned Trooper Eric T. Hirst to Shawnee County. Trooper Hirst received the assignment following his recent completion of an extensive 22-week basic law enforcement course at the Patrol’s Training Academy in Salina.

Trooper Hirst graduated from Shawnee Heights High School in Tecumseh, Kan., and he has an associate’s degree in automotive and diesel mechanics from the Universal Technical Institute in Houston, Texas.  Prior to becoming a trooper, Hirst was a Motorist Assistance Technician with the Kansas Highway Patrol for two and a half years.

Trooper Hirst has begun his field duties under the supervision of Trooper Dan McCollum.  Upon completion of field training, Trooper Hirst will assume patrol duties in Shawnee County.
