Davis Retires from the Patrol

Colonel William Seck, Superintendent of the Kansas Highway Patrol, has announced that Technical Trooper S. W. "Dave" Davis III retired from the Patrol on December 16, 2006. Technical Trooper Davis served the citizens of Kansas for over 25 years.
Davis joined the Kansas Highway Patrol as a trooper in June 1981 and was assigned to road patrol duties in the Garden City area. He transferred to Sublette in 1982 and transferred again in 1993 to Wichita. Davis joined the Patrol's Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP) in 1995 and continued to his patrol duties in Sedgwick County. As a member of MCSAP, Davis was promoted to master trooper in 2001, and he became a technical trooper in 2003. As a member of the Patrol, Davis conducted safety audits and compliance reviews with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) from 2003 until his retirement. He also was a field training officer for recruit troopers in 1990 and 1995.
Davis is a graduate of NesTreLaGo High School in Utica, Kan. Davis served on the Utica City Council in 1981 and the Sublette City Council from 1988 to 1992.
