Norling Promoted to Technical Trooper

Colonel William Seck, Superintendent of the Kansas Highway Patrol, has announced that Trooper Jeffrey D. Norling was promoted to technical trooper on June 17, 2007.
Norling joined the Patrol on July 9, 2000, and was assigned to road patrol duties in the Emporia area. As a member of the Patrol, Norling has served as a forensic mapper for Troop H in southeast Kansas and a Drug Recognition Expert. He was a field training officer for a new trooper in 2003, and he was an instructor for a basic crash investigation course in 2004. In addition, Norling serves as the Troop H Director for the Kansas State Troopers' Association.
Norling is a graduate of Palatine High School in Palatine, Ill. He has a bachelor's of science in sociology with an emphasis in criminal justice from Emporia State University. Norling served in the U.S. Army / Kansas National Guard from 1994 to 2003, last holding the rank of specialist / combat medic. Since 2003, Norling has served in the U.S. Air Force / Kansas National Guard and currently is a technical sergeant / medical technician. Prior to joining the Patrol, Norling served as a deputy sheriff for the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.
