Technical Trooper Brooks Wins National Award
Technical Trooper Todd Brooks brought home a 1st place trophy from the 15th annual North American Inspectors Championship (NAIC), sponsored by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA). Fifty-four inspectors from the United States, Canada, and Mexico competed in the event August 20-26 in Minneapolis, MN.
Brooks earned 1st place in the Level I Inspection category. A Level I CVSA inspection includes examining the driver and the driver's required paperwork, as well as the commercial vehicle's equipment, such as seat belts, brake systems, coupling devices, exhaust system, frame, fuel system, turn signals, headlamps, safe loading, steering mechanism, suspension, tires, van and open-top trailer bodies, wheels and rims, windshield wipers, and other safety equipment.
Brooks is a member of the Kansas Highway Patrol's Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP) and is assigned to the Topeka area. He has been a member of the Patrol for 17 years.
