Master Trooper Myers Retires from Patrol

Colonel William Seck, Superintendent of the Kansas Highway Patrol, has announced that Master Trooper David A. Myers retired from the Patrol on September 9, 2007, after serving the citizens of Kansas for 27 years.
Myers joined the Kansas Highway Patrol on June 18, 1980, and was assigned to road patrol duties in the Oskaloosa area. He transferred to Troy in 1983 and transferred to Atchison in 1986. He was promoted to trooper II in 1989, and became a master trooper in 1992. As a member of the Patrol, Myers was a field training officer for trooper trainees in 1983, 1989, and 1995. In August 1980, he received the Superintendent’s Award after successfully performing life-saving resuscitation efforts on a 4-year-old girl during his off-duty hours. The child was unresponsive and deprived of oxygen when she was brought to Myers’ residence for assistance.
Myers is a graduate of Midway High School in Denton, Kansas. Prior to joining the Patrol, he was a sheriff’s deputy at the Doniphan County Sheriff’s Department. He is a former cubmaster and den leader for Cub Scout Pack 86, and he currently serves as assistant scoutmaster with Boy Scout Troop 86.
