Johnson and Wyandotte Counties Receive New Trooper

Colonel William Seck, Superintendent of the Kansas Highway Patrol, has assigned Trooper Cory J. Beard to Johnson and Wyandotte counties. Trooper Beard received the assignment following his recent completion of an extensive 22-week basic law enforcement course at the Patrol's Training Academy in Salina.
Trooper Beard graduated from Washington High School in Kansas City, Kan., and studied criminal justice at the University of Missouri – Kansas City. Prior to joining the Patrol, Beard was a communications dispatcher for the Kansas City Kansas Police Department. He joined the Kansas Highway Patrol in 2004 as a motorist assistance technician and became a trooper in July 2007.
Trooper Beard has begun his field duties under the supervision of Trooper Jim Oehm. Upon completion of field training, Trooper Beard will assume patrol duties in Johnson and Wyandotte counties.
