Woods Promoted to Lieutenant

Colonel Terry Maple, Superintendent of the Kansas Highway Patrol, has announced that Kenneth L. Woods was promoted to lieutenant on March 23, 2008.
Woods joined the Patrol on March 21, 1999, and was assigned to road patrol duties in Johnson and Wyandotte counties. He was promoted to technical trooper in 2005 and became a trained canine handler in Johnson and Wyandotte counties. Woods was a canine handler for three years, until his recent promotion to lieutenant. As a member of the Patrol, Woods was a field training officer for three troopers between 2001 and 2005. He was the Troop A (Kansas City metropolitan area) range master from 2000 to 2005 and the Troop A armorer from 2000 to 2005. Woods also was a recruit coach for two new trooper classes in 2003 and 2004.
Woods is a graduate of Manhattan High School in Manhattan, Kan. He studied heating and refrigeration at Manhattan Area Technical College, and he earned an associate's degree in applied science and criminal justice at Barton County Community College. Prior to joining the Patrol, Woods was a service tech and journeyman for Thermal Comfort Air in Manhattan.
