Captain Art Wilburn

Colonel Terry L. Maple, Superintendent of the Kansas Highway Patrol, has announced that Arthur H. Wilburn Jr., was promoted to Captain on April 20, 2008, and will oversee the agency's Public and Governmental Affairs section.

Wilburn joined the Patrol on June 18, 1982, as a trooper assigned to the Lyndon area. He was promoted to a Trooper II in 1989, and was promoted to Master Trooper in 1996, continuing his road patrol duties in the Lyndon and Topeka areas. Wilburn transferred to the agency's Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP) in 1999, and he became a Technical Trooper in MCSAP in 2003. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 2006, and was assigned as the supervisor of the Support Services section at General Headquarters in Topeka. As a member of the Patrol, Wilburn was the field training officer for troopers in 1986, 1988, and 1996, and he was a recruit class coach in 1990.

Wilburn is a graduate of Pleasant Ridge High School in Easton, Kansas.

Congratulations, Art, on your promotion!
