Cherokee County Receives New Trooper

Trooper Sage Hill

Colonel Terry Maple, Superintendent of the Kansas Highway Patrol, has assigned Trooper Sage H. Hill to Cherokee County. Trooper Hill received the assignment following his recent completion of an extensive 22-week basic law enforcement course at the Patrol's Training Academy in Salina.

Trooper Hill graduated from Thomson High School in Scranton, Pa., and he studied general studies at Labette County Community College in Parsons, Kan. Prior to joining the Patrol, Hill was a conductor for the Union Pacific Railroad in Coffeyville, Kan. He also served as an emergency 911 dispatcher for the Crawford County Sheriff's Office, was an undercover operative for the Kansas Alcoholic Beverage Control Division of the Kansas Department of Revenue, and was a police cadet at the Coffeyville Police Department. Hill also served as a volunteer firefighter for the Columbus Fire Department.

Trooper Hill has begun his field duties under the supervision of Master Trooper Jim Irwin. Upon completion of field training, Trooper Hill will assume patrol duties in Cherokee County.
