Schumaker Retires from Highway Patrol

Administrative Specialist Debbie Schumaker

Colonel Terry L. Maple, Superintendent of the Kansas Highway Patrol, has announced that Administrative Specialist Debbie Schumaker retired from the Patrol on June 16, 2008. She served the citizens of Kansas for more than 33 years at the Patrol's General Headquarters in Topeka.

Schumaker joined the Patrol on February 18, 1975, as a clerk-typist I in the Records Unit. In 1976 she was promoted to clerk-typist II and transferred into Telecommunications, where she was promoted again in 1978 to clerk III, in 1986 to keyboard operator III, and in 1988 to office specialist. In 1999 she was promoted to public service administrator I and her position merged into the Patrol's newly created Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Unit. In May 2004, she transferred to the Support Services Unit as an administrative specialist, where she remained until her retirement.

Schumaker is a native of Whiting, Kan., and a graduate of Jackson Heights High School.

The Patrol wishes Debbie the best in her retirement!
