Captain Jason De Vore

Captain Jason De Vore of the Kansas Highway Patrol graduated on September 12, 2008 from the Federal Bureau of Investigation's National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Captain De Vore is the commander of Troop C which includes eighteen counties in the north-central region of Kansas. He attended the 234th session of the National Academy, in which the District of Columbia, 49 of the 50 states, and 24 international countries were represented. Also represented were 3 military and 2 federal organizations. There were 250 law enforcement officers who graduated.

The National Academy is internationally known for its academic excellence. The FBI Academy offers 10 weeks of advanced investigative, management, and fitness training for officers that have proven records as professionals within their agencies. The mission of the National Academy is "to support, promote, and enhance the personal and professional development of law enforcement leaders by preparing them for complex, dynamic, and contemporary challenges through innovative techniques, facilitating excellence in education and research, and forging partnerships throughout the world." FBI Director Robert Mueller was the principal speaker at the ceremony.

Captain De Vore joined the Patrol in March 1994. During his first six years, he served the Salina area as a trooper. In January of 2000, De Vore was promoted to 2nd lieutenant and began his assignment as assistant Troop M (Central Communications) commander in Salina. In 2003, he was promoted to lieutenant. He was promoted to captain in 2004 and assumed command of Troop M. He transferred to Troop C as its commander in 2005.

The National Academy began in July 1935, and since then, a total of 41,948 men and women have completed its training program. Beginning in 1972, the Academy partnered with the University of Virginia and allowed students to earn undergraduate and graduate credits.
