In October of 2004, Captain Gonzalez assumed command of the Patrol’s Emergency Operations section in Topeka. He remained Emergency Operations Coordinator until his retirement. As a road trooper, Gonzalez was a field training officer for three new troopers.
Gonzalez is a graduate of Washburn University with an Associate of Arts degree in Corrections, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice. Prior to joining the Patrol, Gonzalez was a Sergeant with the United States Marine Corp, serving from 1971 to 1975 as a Heavy Equipment Repairman. He was a police officer for the Topeka Police Department from 1977 to 1980.
