Colonel Terry Maple, Superintendent of the Kansas Highway Patrol, has announced that Allan Lytton was promoted to Lieutenant on June 28, 2009, and will assume his duties at the Kansas Highway Patrol Training Academy in Salina.

Lieutenant Lytton began his career with the Patrol on July 10, 2000 as a trooper assigned to road patrol duties in Russell County. In October 2005, Lytton was promoted to Technical Trooper and assumed Public Resource Officer duties for Troop D, the northwest region of the state. With his promotion to Lieutenant, he will assist with training functions at the Patrol's statewide training facility.

During his career with the Patrol, Lytton has served as a recruit class coach from 2003-2007, helping coach six of the Patrol's recruit classes. Lytton currently serves as a member of the Patrol's Traffic Stop Team, serving since January of 2004. In 2003, Lytton was the recipient of a Commander's Commendation for his educational and enforcement efforts.

Lytton is a graduate of Augusta High School in Augusta, Kansas. He received an Associate's degree from Butler County Community College and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education from Wichita State University. Prior to his career with the Patrol, Lytton served as a teacher and coach at Minneola High School in Minneola, Kansas, from 1984 – 2000. Lytton was a City Council member for Minneola from 1994 until 2000. He was a Hays City Commissioner from 2007 until this year.

Congratulations, Allan, on your promotion!
