MCI I Bernasek Retires from Kansas Highway Patrol

Colonel Terry L. Maple, Superintendent of the Kansas Highway Patrol has announced that Motor Carrier Inspector I Galen C. Bernasek retired from the Patrol on September 4, 2009. MCI I Bernasek served the citizens and state of Kansas for over 30 years. Bernasek was a Motor Carrier Inspector with the Patrol for 21 of those years.

Bernasek began his career with the State of Kansas in the scale facilities in 1976 under the Kansas Department of Revenue. His first working station was the Port of Entry in Marysville. In June of 1988, the scale facilities were transferred to the Kansas Highway Patrol from the Department of Revenue. On June 18, 1988 Bernasek was transferred to the KHP as a Motor Carrier Inspector stationed in Marysville. In February of 1994, Bernasek transferred to the Belleville Scale Facility. On June 15, 2008, Bernasek was promoted to Motor Carrier Inspector I. He retired as a MCI I on September 4.

Prior to his career with the Patrol, Bernasek served as the Undersheriff of Marshall County and Chief of Police in Axtell, Kansas. Galen is a graduate of Axtell High School in Axtell, Kansas.
