KHP Announces Results of Weekend Enforcement In Kansas City

Kansas City Area Rave Nets Six DUIs

On Saturday, January 30, 2010, the Kansas Highway Patrol conducted a RAVE (Roving Aggressive Violation Enforcement) in the Kansas City area in an effort to help reduce the number of impaired drivers on the roads and encourage safe driving practices throughout the state. A RAVE is a saturation patrol that takes place when many troopers converge on a specific area looking for any drivers who are violating Kansas law.

Preliminary results indicate that 16 people were tested for driving under the influence, resulting in six arrests. One person was cited for Minor in Possession or Consumption of Alcohol.

The Kansas City area RAVE deployment was funded by an Impaired Driving Deterrence Program (IDDP) grant, courtesy of the Kansas Department of Transportation. Troopers made 116 public contacts that resulted in 212 activities. One non-injury crash was investigated. There was also one Felony arrest, 17 vehicle inspections conducted, and 17 motorist assists. Troopers also issued citations and warnings for other violations.
