Officer Involved Shooting

On Sunday, June 1, 2014 at approximately 5:57 p.m., a Kansas Highway Patrol motor carrier inspector assisted the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office at a rural residence with a subject who was reported to be armed. Upon arriving at the residence, the KHP officer and Montgomery County deputies located the suspect, and shots were fired, killing the suspect.

No officers were injured during this incident.

As standard practice, and in accordance with Kansas Highway Patrol policy, the officer has been placed on Administrative Leave while this case is being investigated.  The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) has been notified and is conducting the investigation in this case.  Please route all future questions reference this incident through the KBI at 785-296-8200.
