The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) accredits agencies who commit to meeting national law enforcement standards. CALEA’s Standards for Law Enforcement Agencies© and its Accreditation Programs has become the primary method for an agency to voluntarily demonstrate their commitment to excellence in law enforcement. The Kansas Highway Patrol received law enforcement accreditation in July 2018, public safety training academy accreditation in July 2020, and public safety communications accreditation in March 2021. In March 2021 the Kansas Highway Patrol was also awarded the prestigious TRI-ARC Award which was created to recognize entities that concurrently hold all three accreditation awards. The Kansas Highway Patrol is one of twenty agencies in the United States to hold this elite status.
