Aircraft Assets
The Patrol has aircraft based in Topeka, Wichita, and Hays. The agency maintains a Bell 407 helicopter, a fixed-wing Cessna 182 RG, and three fixed wing Cessna 206s. The helicopter and 2 of the 206s are equipped with Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR), which allows pilots to see at night by sensing body heat, making it a valuable tool in searching for persons.
Executive Aircraft Operations
The Air Support Unit also operates the State of Kansas Executive Aircraft. The Patrol owns and operates a 2001 King Air 350. It’s twin-engine, turbo-prop plane capable of carrying nine passengers. The Executive Aircraft is based in Topeka and provides Executive transportation for State of Kansas Officials, along with provides all-weather long-distance transportation for public safety personnel or cargo.
