Officer Involved Shooting in Topeka
This morning, November 27, 2018, around 10:45 a.m., a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper, along with a Topeka Police officer, made contact with a vehicle containing two female occupants, near the intersection of NE Grant and NE Madison in Topeka. 

During the encounter, a second vehicle arrived on scene. The occupants of the first vehicle exited their vehicle and attempted to flee to the second vehicle. As officers attempted to stop the first vehicle’s occupants from getting in the second vehicle, the driver of the second vehicle took off, dragging both officers. The trooper fired shots at the driver and the two passengers fled on foot. Eventually the vehicle came to a stop. AMR was immediately contacted. 

The driver was transported to Stormont Vail hospital in Topeka. 

As is standard practice, and in accordance with Kansas Highway Patrol policy, the trooper involved will be placed on administrative leave while this case is being investigated.
